Cobourg, Ontario band cleopatrick (cleopatrick.com) are the lucky winners of a new drum kit courtesy of Pearl Drums and Indie Week Canada. The rockin’ twosome were early bird applicants for the 2016 edition of Indie Week, being held in Toronto November 15-20th 2016, and members Ian Fraser and Luke Gruntz stopped by the new downtown Indie Week offices earlier this week to pick up their brand new Pearl kit. Things are off to a fast start for the young band as they have been selected as a “Generation Next” artist to watch on 94.9 FM The Rock, and, they have just released their debut EP “14” (recorded in just 14 hours) which is available from their website. The first single and video is “City Kids”. Fans of Death From Above 1979, The White Stripes and The Standstills will love cleopatrick. Guitarist and vocalist Luke Gruntz has a bass amp coupled with his guitar amp, and, using a series of pedals and effects, creates a monster full-band sound. With drummer Ian Fraser on his new Pearl drums you won’t believe you are hearing only two performers. Fans in Southern Ontario can see the band live at The Cavern Bar in Toronto on February 27th and The Oxford in Peterborough on March 3th. Thanks to all of the bands that applied early (we are listening to your submissions first!) and there is still a lot of time to apply and have a chance for your band to perform at Indie Week 2016 and maybe win a trip to Indie Week Manchester in 2017.
